Bright

Found a rainbow straight outside the window, Bright one of the most beautiful towns in Australia

Garden

The slow process of turning this little piece of paradise into exactly that. Trees now gone and will be replaced with something nice. Not sure yet, but it will be nice.

New fence up, so no pecking neighbours now. All spare money spent, but more than happy with result.

Summer Time comes to an end

I love day light saving. I love the extra hour of day light. My first run after work tonight around Aranda with Bells and my light. Stuck the light on my head but it just kept falling down. Next best thing, great having a small waist, the head band also goes around the waist, worked perfectly. Felt a little eary though, running in the dark and suddenly I hear a man coughing but can't see a thing. Made me run faster.

Tree cutting started today, big mess in the back yard and they only achieved cutting down 2 trees, another big day for them tomorrow

What did Easter bring, worked on 2 nights, Saturday night was in Cooma. big story, but ending with Police issuing a fine and waiting for a tow truck at 10.30 at night.

Luke's birthday - 21 years old. dinner with the kids, light and relaxing .

Had a brain attack on Saturday morning. Me, a hammer and a wall, Oh well, comical

Dad still very sick, went to his place and cooked Rock Cakes, he was very happy

Went to Hall Markets , haven't been there for more than 10 years, still all the same but nice to just walk around and look at all the arty people selling their work. So different from Jamo. Forgot the Camera, a missed op, next time

Too many tomatoes

Had attempted earlier in the day to make my first batch of Tomato Chutney, due to way to many tomatoes than i could possible eat. So what a treat I had. Very tasty Vintage Cheese to go with the Chutney and some Italian Bread toasted fingers. Unfortunately it only took one and a half glasses of bubbles and I was as drunk as a skunk.

Just when you think the pumpkin plant is about to die, new pumpkins are popping up, I would say there is about 20

Can't believe, actually got some strawberries, little wild ones, just like France

Cheese

This is the biggest block of Cheese I have ever seen. I was at the Fruit Markets and this lovely Italian man who was obviously passionate about his cheese, was handing out pieces to taste. What can I say, it was delicious. Had to buy some and at a bargain price of $25 kilo, my piece cost $10 and I enjoyed every mouthful.

Another week gone in 2010, the year is going by all so quickly.

Just looking forward to 4 days off from work. After the last 2 weeks, between punctures on bikes and the car breaking down three times. Hope this week gives me no grief.

If I didn't say No Thank You

Riding home from work today, the whether was great, people were everywhere. Half way home and the dreaded sound of the flat tyre.

Hadn't changed this tube since the new tyre went on, so was a little worried, but all good. Got if off, new one in and tyre back on in no time, then came the pumping, pump was broken.

Well, two nice gentlemen stop and offer me the use of their pump, but unfortunately the tube didn't go up. I gave the pump back, said Thank You and sent them off to do their Black Mountain Repeats in an aim to break 13 minutes. Me, I thought I might have twisted the tube so I took it off again and put it on very slowly. Feeling confident that I had now put this together with no twists, tried the pump again and still no go.

Another bike rider stopped and lent me her pump. Still wouldn't go up. Gave the pump back and again said Thank You.

Decided to start walking, 10k = 1hr maybe with bike shoes. Didn't really care by this stage , just happy to be heading in the home direction.

Well, another bike rider slows down and asked if I was ok. Said I was fine and No Thank You. Then a recumbent rider stops and offered to patch my tube, very nice of him but again I said No thank you.

And then another rider, come up to me and as I went to say No Thank You. He just stopped in front on me, got off his bike and started to help me. Well really I didn't do anything, he changed it with his tube and used his pump and I would say it took him 30 seconds. If you are going to be saved from a 10k walk I'm happy for Simon Claringbold to changed my tyre at that speed. Spent more time talking about this and that, than it took him to change the tube.

So, the thought I had going home was what if I didn't say no thank you. Everything happens for a reason.

Bella wasn't happy as I didn't get home until 7.15 and a quick Mt Painter run was all she got

my kitchen rules

Lots of sweat over this meal. 5 minutes to cut the vegetables and a 1 hr run to follow.

First came the sniff test, then the tasting. Bella gives a score of 10/10. Much better than dog biscuits

Yum. built a path to the vegetable patch, cut down some dead branches, pulled out some zucchini. more painting and placed some apple in the garden in hope that it will help the many tomatoes ripen as they just seem to be staying green, green tomatoe chutney is starting to sound good.

Australian Half Marathon Championships - Hobart Tasmania

Great week-end in Hobart, never been their before. Started the week-end with sciatica so bad couldn't even go for a short run in the morning before getting the plane at 11am.

Very bumpy flight, landing was a bit hairy, but all good. Straight off the plane and because we only took Carry On Luggage, out of the airport in no time, got the hire car from Hertz and off we went into town for the markets and to also register for the Half Marathon.

Salamanca Markets were great, lots of organic food and craft stalls. And lots of food cooking, Crepes caught BB eyes, Fetta and Spinach and Mushroom and Spinach, verrrrry niiicccccceee. Picked up some nice fresh cheese and vegetables, yogurt, raspberries and honey for the next 12 hour pre-race dinner and breakfast.

Next stop, Derwent Winery. BB couldn't resist, 2 bottles of Pinot Nior, 2006 and 2007,

Headed to the Claremont Hotel/Motel and checked the course out along the way. Looked hilly.
Settled in, quick walk to the local shop for some more coke, dined on cheese and salad wraps and washed in down with 2006 Pinot, really liked this one. To bed early, 8.30 .

Up at 4.30am Sunday. Yogurt, wrap of honey and banana and snoozed for another hour or so. Showered and out the door by 6.15. Whether conditions were good, not too hot, max of 25. Tooks drugs for the sciatica and anti-inflams, worked well as I was only in a little pain but restricted in pushing it to far. Still ran 1hr 46. Happy with that. BB, well he ran 73, awesome, came 3rd all up and won his age group but along way. Very proud of him. Presentation was belayed which left us short for time and we had to go before bb received his prize

Raced to the airport, on the plane in no time and back in Canberra by 2pm to find Bella had broke the fence andwent into the lady next door. She wasn't happy

Welcome in the New Year - 2010

2010 started with a Hang-over. Started drinking bubbles too early and probably too quickly last night. Still managed to get out the door and do a nice long run through Black Mountain and over Little Black Mountain with Bella. Was a little hot but she was ok.

BB, Bella and myself went for coffee. Started a new trend, take the flask of hot water and the Cuppuchino Sachets down to the lake. This is quite nice as Bella gets to run around and gets lots of dips in Lake Burley Griffin. She comes home smelly but happy and tired.

No New Years Resolution. Just simply enjoy what I have. Sometimes we don't always appreciate what we have and we only see what we don't. Lots of plans but will they all come to fruishion. Hopefully
